Episode 10

Tlingit Warrior

His face was the face of a man – he was no god – my forced open eyes could see nothing but this dried-up man – he could not be any more alive than I was.

And while he did not move his lips, he spoke forth nonetheless.

“Fly away witch”

But I could not fly away, it was not possible, and so they dragged me out and fed me to the desert which surrounds the city. I want you to understand that this is indeed a city; here where I stand. We are not savages, we are civilised, but civilised by necessity rather than by some ideology, some affectation or deformity in language, and if you can’t understand that then you are wasting your time reading my words.
